Unravelling The Mystery of Hotels
On the 3rd March this year, CBRE Hotels hosted a breakfast seminar at their offices in St Martin’s Court, entitled “Unravelling the Mystery of Hotels – an Exclusive Briefing”. The objective was to raise understanding on the future of the hotel market by examining the options available to those involved in hotel real estate. The event was aimed at passive equity holders and debt banks.
The morning was led by Michael Hirst, OBE, Consultant to CBRE Hotels, who introduced the four guest speakers from TRI (Jonathon Langston), Close Brothers (Henry Wells), Westmont (Kingsley Seevaratnam) and CBRE Hotels, Derek Gammage.
The presence of these industry leaders offered a range of expertise and knowledge to the 40 attendees, providing an in-depth analysis of the current market and options available through a range of case studies. A Q&A session at the end encouraged the audience to offer their own views and ask any questions.

IHIF Berlin
For the 12th consecutive year, CBRE Hotels were proud Founding Patrons of the International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin, held between the 9-11th March 2009. Attended by over 1900 delegates from 55 countries, the event was an outstanding success. Three of the team were guest speakers, providing their personal views on the current and future outlook of the market. Michael Hirst, a consultant to CBRE Hotels, also held a panel session – ‘Spotlight on Industry Leaders’ which brought together five hotel leaders in an attempt to gather opinions on where the market was heading and effective ways to respond.
The strap line for CBRE Hotels was: ‘Evolve Your Thinking’, reflecting the need for a change of attitude in these challenging times. To reinforce this theme, the team hosted two evening events with food, drink, music and backgammon boards that proved very successful.
